At the SJJA Fundamentals program, we help you kickstart your Jiu Jitsu journey with our classes that accommodates all ages, gender, and fitness levels. No prior martial art experience is required for the beginners’ program.

Whether you want to lose weight, gain strength, gain confidence, or learn self-defense, the SJJA team will be there to motivate you all the way. Just as pressure makes diamonds, we believe that facing challenges head-on can unlock unimaginable strength in our mind, body, and spirit.

Modeled on the training and fitness regime of World Champion BJJ athlete Bruno Alves, SJJA fuses Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and self-defense with group functional fitness under the guidance of Bruno’s elite coaching methodology.
With classes catering for all ages and fitness levels, SJJA students learn the world’s most effective martial art while enjoying a full-body workout in a supportive team environment.

Notwithstanding our program teaching the world’s most effective martial art of Jiu-Jitsu & self-defense, our students also learn lifelong values that will translate into other parts of their life, from home to school to work. More amazingly, our students learn to cultivate resilience, gain confidence & courage, develop a championship spirit, achieve fitness and build strength.

A typical Fundamentals class at SJJA begins with some stretching, cardio, and strength warm-ups before dividing students into pairs and learning several Jiu-jitsu techniques under our world-class instructors.
We focus on one foundational Jiu-jitsu position every week so that you can put your game together piece by piece and as you progress, you gain access to higher-level classes.

Unlike many other martial arts gyms, our students get fit, not hit. This is because, as we practice Jiu-jitsu, we are also taking care of your safety. This allows our students to train their hardest without fear of being hurt.
